Demographic Facts

 

 

Franklin County School System is composed of four K - 12 High Schools,  two K - 9 Junior High Schools and one Career/Technical Center.  The System serves 3,370 students with 232 teachers.  Franklin County students live mainly in rural areas or in small towns or communities.

 

The area has an abundance of outdoor recreation found on the four BCDA lakes (Bear Creek Development Authority), Bankhead National Forests, and Thomas Wildlife Management area.  Major sources of employment in the county are Golden Poultry, Sunshine Mills, a number of manufactured housing plants, and textile industries.  Many residents of the county find employment in the nearby Shoals area which includes the cities of Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, Sheffield and Florence.
